half behind the drywall and half exposed

I place the stud half behind the drywall and half exposed, this way I can still get a screw in the existing drywall and the patch. I repeat myself here but again I use fine threaded drywall screws to screw into the steel stud.

   

Now I have backing on the left, centre and right sides.

Next I screw in the patch that I started with to trace the hole.
