Hi Everyone
Welcome to my site! My name is Shawn Monteith and I have been in the construction, building, fixing and whatever else falls in this catagory for most of my adult life. I have learned a lot from some really good tradsmen. The type of guys that started as young 15 and retired doing the same trade.
I have always liked working with my hands, I'm not one of those people who enjoys sitting in a classroom. For some reason I have always understood how things went together, built or repaired. Probably because it was easier to fix something I broke instead of telling my mom. I owe a lot of this thinking to my Grandfather 'Jimmy'. He grew up at a time when you had to fix your own property and being a farmer had lots on the go. He would ask me to stand back and look at the problem, to understand it. This helped me to look at a problem and understand what would work and why something would not. To know if 3 months down the road in a different climate something would crack and ruin the job. I was lucky to learn this, cause some of my first jobs were in construction and I used this thinking to understand why something was done and what tools to use.
